Quote – “Love me, or hate me, both are in my favor. If you love me, I’ll always be in your heart. If you hate me, I’ll always be in your mind.” – Shakespeare
We’ve all heard it before, it’s a thin line between love and hate. Speaking for myself, I’ve experienced this type of love/hate emotions once or twice in my lifetime, and probably more than that. I’ve loved often. Hate? That’s pretty strong, but then so is hating someone. Both can hurt you so bad, it’s almost impossible to get out of bed and do your normal routine. I can remember once, and thank goodness it only happened once, where I was SO, so in love with someone, and then when it was over, I was an ugly mess. That doomed relationship only lasted a little more than a year, but it took me 6 years to get over this person. I’m not even kidding. 6 YEARS! It felt as if I were dying slowly from the inside. Everywhere I went, I saw their face. Every song I heard, reminded me of us.
Time does heal most wounds. And so does music, for me, anyway.
I’m not even sure how or why, but one day, I was finally over it. I could see their face, and not want to cry any more. I didn’t even want to be with them any more, and I stopped going back in time and thinking of the places we’ve been to, or things we did. In fact, I started to see what was wrong with the relationship. And once I did that, I knew that if we stayed together, we would have eventually ended broken up anyway. Finally, the “what if” thoughts just stopped coming. And I was grateful.
So here is my love songs list, 14 songs, for February 14th, 14 songs that I connect with finding that special love, being in love, loving someone that’s weird like me, or losing love. Not in any particular order. Either way, for me they all are connected with different layers of “love”. In one way, or another. Let me know what your favorite or hated love songs are.
By the way, one of the songs I’ve added to the list was from that “bad” break-up, but it’s such a good, good song, I had to add it. It’s just one of the good memories now that I have, and it doesn’t make me sad any more…not at all.
